On June 15th the Diversity Forum continued our theme of Becoming Allies with a specific focus on "Organizing for Change". Community organizing is an important way to seek broader systemic changes in our society, and we see many current movements using this model.
This month our speakers addressed what an ally’s role is in organizing for change alongside marginalized communities:
- Maria Hernandez, Harrisburg Coordinator, Movement of Immigrant Leaders in PA (MILPA)
- Alex Domingos, Activist, ThisStopsTodayHarrisburg (follow them on Facebook and Twitter)
- Theo Braddy, Executive Director, Center for Independant Living of Central PA (follow them on Facebook and Twitter)
Thank you to Widener Law Commonwealth for hosting us!
