The YWCA Veterans Department provides supportive services to veteran families to prevent homelessness and to rapidly re-house those who are homeless through the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. These services are provided to eligible veterans and their families in Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, York, Adams, Franklin, Perry, Juniata and Mifflin counties.

The SSVF program promotes housing stability among very low-income veteran families who reside in or are transitioning to permanent housing. The YWCA Supportive Services team members provide outreach service, case management services, assistance in obtaining VA benefits, and assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public and mainstream benefits.

Supportive Service Case Managers provide intensive case management services to assist eligible low-income veteran families to prevent homelessness or to rapidly obtain stable, permanent housing. Services include assistance in overcoming barriers to permanent housing and development of supportive services to assist in long-term housing stability. In addition, temporary financial assistance may also be available for eligible veterans families.
