The COVID-19 pandemic and its associated impact have significantly increased the demand for supportive services to assist Veterans throughout South Central Pennsylvania. These challenges have delayed, but will not stop the 15th Annual Stand Down from taking place.

To provide the access and space needed to safely conduct the Stand Down, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has graciously offered the use of the Pennsylvania State Farm Show to host this Year’s event.

This year the Stand Down will take place on Saturday, March the 6, 2021 from 9:00 am through 4:00 pm at the PA Farm Show complex, Expo building, 2300 North Cameron Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Onsite Services/Resources:
VA Health Care, VA Benefits, Alternate Health Care Information, Housing & Employment Assistance, Mental Wellness & Basic Needs Referrals, Information on Access to COVID-19 Vaccinations (VA and Community) and Legal Services (Expungements), Transportation, Hot Meals, Personal Care Items, and So Much More!

Parking and access to the Stand Down will be from the parking lot located off of Wildwood Park Drive with separate screening and entrance areas noted for Veteran guests and service providers/volunteers. Transportation to and from the event may be arranged.

Appropriate safety precautions to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 will be in place to include initial screening at the building point of entrance, mask wearing and social distancing.

Veterans will check-in beginning at 9:00 and they will have access to a variety of services and critical needs throughout the day.  Homeless and in need Veterans and their families are welcome to the event.  Free transportation is provided for Veterans to attend the event with complete schedules to follow shortly. Drive-in and walk-in attendance is also welcome.

Last Year’s Stand Down served over 80 homeless and at risk Veterans.  Current challenges equate to an expanded need for a large variety of services. The ongoing dedication and commitment of volunteers and service organizations will make it possible to continue to provide for these Veterans.

If you or someone you know is interested in being part of the 2021 Stand Down please respond with current contact information and area of interest. We currently need ambassadors, service providers, and volunteers. Ongoing demand for services throughout the year has further increased the need for donations to support this event.
For more information on volunteering, an interest to participate, or desire to donate to the Stand Down, please call Director, Bill Reed at 717-234-7931, or email at wreed@ywcahbg.org.

Thank you for your continued support for our Veterans!
